"Together, We Can Deliver!"
Client Stories
Since 1984, Meals on Wheels South Florida, along with its devoted staff and volunteers, has been providing nutritious meals, friendly visits, and safety checks to the senior community in Broward County. We are excited to share some stories below that illustrate the genuine impact of our service, demonstrating that we deliver more than just a meal.

Client Leslie A., Miramar Resident
Client Leslie A.'s life was significantly impacted by the services provided by MOWSOFLO.

Her journey with the organization began in November 2024 when she received her first meal delivery. As her rental unit lacks a kitchen, these low-sodium, microwaveable meals were a game-changer, especially since she is managing her blood sugar levels.

A flyer included with her meals introduced her to the Claris Companion Tablet Program. Having no personal computer or tablet, she relied on her smartphone for important tasks like paying bills and making doctor's appointments, which was a challenge. In December, a MOWSOFLO team member delivered a tablet and gave her a tutorial on how to use it.

During Thanksgiving, a MOWSOFLO volunteer delivered a hot Thanksgiving dinner, which Leslie hadn't enjoyed since her brother passed away in 2022. She also received a holiday gift box in December filled with personal care items to help ease the financial strain of being on a fixed income.

The client's sweet dog Rocky, a rescue Havanese, also received care. MOWSOFLO arranged for a veterinarian and mobile groomer to provide a medical checkup and grooming service. Client Leslie was incredibly grateful for the support for Rocky, whom she considers her only family.
Client Lora K.,
Hollywood Resident
Lora has been a client of Meals on Wheels South Florida since June 2024, and has benefitted significantly from the Emergency Meal Program. Lora was recently offered a Claris Companion Tablet, which is offered to clients through a grant partnership with Meals on Wheels America.

Since receiving the tablet, Lora has enjoyed utilizing the tablet's many innovative features, and the tablet assists her with staying connected to family, friends, caregivers, and more. Learn more about the Claris Companion Tablet Program here.

Client Mary Ann M.,
Pompano Resident
"Mary Ann lives in a two-story building with no elevator. The steps were 9 steps per floor, so to get to her you had to travel eighteen steps, and they were very wide concrete steps outside. How these elderly people carry their food up these steps is beyond me because I was out of breath when I reached the top.
I got all the boxes to the top and knocked on her door. This sweet woman was so thin and so grateful that we gave her food, she cried and said thank you and that she could handle the boxes by herself."
